The center is engaged mainly in the application and development of computer and network technology, application and development of construction of marine data platform, multimedia system management, service and development of book, data and file and provide hardware and software supports for the scientific computation and scientific information analysis in the institute. There are 20 staff members in the center, among them,8 with senior title and 8 with intermediate title. The library has a collection of 60,000 books and 600 kinds of Chinese and foreign journals. The comprehensive archive is a state second-class archive objective management unit and has a collection of morethan 5,000 files. The editorial office is responsible for the edition and publication of the scientific journals of “Advances in Marine Science” and “Coastal Engineering”. The first class journal “Advances in Marine Science” sponsored by the Chinese Ocean Society and the First Institute of Oceanography, SOA is the Chinese core journal, the core journal of science and technology of China and the core journal of natural science of China, and has been elected as the excellent journal in East China area. The major equipments of network center include Cisco 2621 router, 3Com4900 switchboard with a baud rate of 1000MBPS, 3Com4400 intelligent switchboard with a baud rate of 100MPBS and 3 Dell servers. 3Com4900 switchboard is used as the backbone network and 3Com4400 switchboards are connected directly to the terminal computers to realize the fast data transmission function between terminals and desktop computers, which can provide convenient condition for the communications between our institute and domestic and international academic communities.
