陈永奇教授，1966年毕业于武汉测绘学院，在工业部门工作几年后于1974年回学院任教。在1983年在加拿大The University of New Brunswick测量工程系获得博士学位，回国后任武汉测绘科技大学教授、博导、系主任。1994年到香港理工大学任测绘与地理信息学系教授兼系主任。
Professor Yongqi Chen, graduated from the Wuhan Surveying and Mapping College (WSMC) in 1966，after a few year working he started his teaching career back in WSMC in 1974. In 1983 he got a PhD of Surveying Engineering at The University of New Brunswick, Canada, and then became survey department head and professor in Wuhan Technology University of Surveying and Mapping. Since 1994 he served as a professor in Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and the head of survey and geography information department.
教授长期从事测绘科学与技术教学和研究，出版了六本专著和教科书，发表了350多篇学术论文， 曾替美国太空总署设计登陆火星的探测仪器，被国防科工委、中国科学院聘为绕月探测工程科学应用专家委员会成员，参与了中国嫦娥探月工程。研究领域包括:工程测量，大地测量，海洋测绘，地壳变形和地球动力学，综合导航，卫星定位，合成孔径雷达干涉测量 (InSAR)，高分辨力卫星影象成图等，取得了一批世界公认的学术研究成果，被国际上誉为“现代形变处理之父”， 被中国政府授于“中国高校教育具有重要贡献”荣誉称号。曾先后担任国际测量师联合会(FIG)第六专业委员会的副主席、主席，国内14个大学和研究所顾问教授，加拿大University of New Brunswick荣誉研究员，International J of Geo-Informatics、 J of Geodesy、GPS Solution、测绘学报、大地测量与地球动力学等国内外测绘核心期刊的编委， 皇家测量师院、英国土木工程测量师院、香港测量师院、香港科技促进会等资深成员(Fellow) 。
Professor Yongqi Chen has been dedicated in surveying and mapping science research and teaching for a long time. He has published six monographs and other textbooks as well as more than 350 scholarly articles.He once designed NASA's Mars exploration apparatus for USA. Not long before he participated in China's lunar exploration program and was appointed as a member of the lunar exploration experts committee by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Professor Yongqi Chen has achieved remarkable accomplishments in the academic research field that covers from engineering surveying, geodetic surveying, marine surveying, crustal deformation and geodynamics, integrated navigation, satellite positioning, InSAR, to high-resolution satellite images mapping. He is credited for the title "the father of modern deformation treatment". The Chinese Government granted him "who gives important contribution to higher education." Professor has served as Chairman and Vice-Chairman in the Number six Professional Committee of the Federation International of Gymnastics(FIG),advisory Professor in 14 domestic universities and institutions, Honorary Fellow of University of New Brunswick, Canada. He is the editor of many hardcore journals in surveying and mapping both demotic and abroad, such as International J of Geo-Informatics, J of Geodesy, GPS Solution, Acta Geodaetica et Cartographica Sinica, Journal of Geodesy and Geodynamics, etc. He is also the senior fellow of many colleges list here: Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors ,United Kingdom Civil Engineering College of Chartered Surveyors, Hong Kong Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Hong Kong Science and Technology Association.
